What’s new in PebbleOS?
| Sept 29, 2026 | PebbleOS v4.38.4 | Health
- Smarter heart rate tracking. The heart rate sensor now adapts to what you are doing (walking, running, high intensity) for more reliable readings during workouts, and turns itself off sooner when it is not needed, saving battery.
- Faster live heart rate. Apps showing your live heart rate update about every second instead of every few seconds.
- Battery savings. The heart rate sensor no longer stays on after a workout when heart rate monitoring is turned off.
- Initial support for blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring. Not enabled in Pebble mobile app yet.
Text size and readability
- New Extra Large text size. Text Size now offers an Extra Large option, and the setting has moved to Display.
- Text size applies everywhere. The launcher and all system menus now follow your chosen text size, and update immediately when you change it.
- Separate text size for notifications. Notifications can use their own text size, or follow the system setting.
- Better right-to-left text. Arabic and Hebrew text now renders with correctly mirrored brackets and punctuation.
- Larger timeline cards. Sports scores and calendar events make better use of the larger displays.
Touch scrolling
- Menus show a scrollbar while you scroll on watches with a touchscreen, curved along the edge on round displays.
- Scrolling past the end of a list now stretches and springs back.
Vibration
- Six new vibration patterns: Double Pulse Medium, Pebble Morse, Heartbeat, Double Tap, Wave and Imperial.
- Vibration on the latest watches is retuned to the motor's rated strength for a cleaner, more consistent feel.
Alarms, Quiet Time and Quick Launch
- An alarm that was due while the watch was off now rings as soon as the watch starts up.
- One-time alarms keep the days you picked after a restart.
- The screen stays lit while an alarm is ringing.
- Scheduled Quiet Time now stays on schedule after time, time zone or daylight saving changes.
- Quick Launch is split into Actions and Apps, and a button can now be set to do nothing at all.
Music
- Music controls are available with any phone, even without a media app.
- Album art loads more reliably and no longer flickers through covers when skipping tracks.
- The progress bar shows correctly on very long tracks such as audiobooks.
Display and watchfaces
- Default backlight brightness is tuned per watch model.
- Backlight settings correctly show the Advanced preset when the backlight is off.
- Older watchfaces are positioned correctly on round displays when a notification appears or is dismissed.
- A watchface that fails to start shows a clear warning and switches to the default watchface instead of getting stuck.
- Fixed a gray screen on Pebble Time 2 during some screen transitions.
- Fixed screenshots occasionally showing wrong colours.
Notifications and phone connection
- iPhone users are warned on the watch when iOS is blocking notifications, with a hint to check Share System Notifications in Bluetooth settings.
- Improved Bluetooth stability, including a fix for a crash after the connection stopped responding.
Languages
- Translations are now managed in a community project, making it easier to contribute and keep languages up to date. Additional languages are delivered as language packs through the mobile app.
- Danish added, German improved, and the Weather app is fully translated.
- Weather warnings and wind speed follow your chosen units.
Other fixes
- Fixed touchscreen glitches caused by the sensor resetting mid-read.
- Fixed a crash on Core 2 Duo when text-heavy watchfaces loaded new characters.
- Fixed a slowdown in graphics-heavy apps and watchfaces introduced in 4.37. |
